Kathmandu: Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian have died in a helicopter crash, according to the Iranian state media.
The helicopter was located at a crash site on Monday morning. Iranian state TV had reported that there were “no signs of life” at the site.
The helicopter, one of three flying together in a convoy, had to make an emergency landing because of thick fog, and the crash may have happened during the landing, according to Iranian media.
President Raisi, who had been visiting the Iran-Azerbaijan border area, was en route to the city of Tabriz in northwestern Iran.
